The curriculum, grade by grade

One pathway, five stages. Choose the stage your child is at to see the platforms they work on, the concepts underneath, and what they walk away having built.

Grades 1-3 - Ages 6-9

Blocks before keyboards

Six is old enough to build something that runs. Children work inside Code.org's Sprite Lab and Play Lab and in Scratch, dragging blocks instead of typing, and finish each session with a character that moves, a story that responds or a game that keeps score.

Code.org Sprite Lab Play Lab Scratch App Lab

What your child will learn

✓Sprite Lab missions with characters and costumes
✓Play Lab stories that respond to a click
✓Minecraft puzzles on Code.org
✓Counting loops and repeating patterns
✓Events - making something happen on a key press
✓Scratch animations with motion and sound
✓AI Basics - teaching a computer to sort pictures
✓Presenting a finished build every class
Grades 4-5 - Ages 9-11

Where typing starts

The year the keyboard takes over. Children go deeper into Scratch Specialisation and two levels of App Lab, build games with scoring and levels, meet Artificial Intelligence I, and - on the Grandmaster track - type their first real Python.

Scratch Specialisation App Lab I & II Game Development Artificial Intelligence I

What your child will learn

✓Fundamentals of Animation - motion, timing, scenes
✓Two levels of App Lab, building screens that work
✓Game Development I and II with scoring and levels
✓Scratch Specialisation projects of their own design
✓Artificial Intelligence I - image and text recognition
✓Sensor-powered apps that react to tilt and sound
✓First typed Python on the Grandmaster track
✓Something running by the end of every session
Grades 6-8 - Ages 11-14

Typed code, shipped projects

This is where the training wheels come off. Students write Python properly - variables through functions to object-oriented programming - then build arcade games in Pygame, desktop apps in Tkinter, and projects that read a webcam using OpenCV.

Python Pygame & Tkinter HTML, CSS & Bootstrap Computer Vision

What your child will learn

✓Python from variables through functions and OOP
✓Arcade games built in Pygame
✓Desktop apps with a Tkinter interface
✓Websites styled with CSS and Bootstrap
✓Data analysis with pandas and charts
✓Computer vision projects using OpenCV
✓Gesture control - code that reads hand movement
✓A database behind a social-media style app
Grades 9-10 - Ages 14-16

Depth, not breadth

Fewer topics, taken further. Students work through bitwise operations, recursion, linked lists, stacks and queues, query SQL databases straight from Python, and chart results with Matplotlib and Seaborn - the groundwork every model later depends on.

Advanced Python SQL Data Science Java

What your child will learn

✓Advanced Python - data structures and OOP in depth
✓Bitwise operations and recursion from first principles
✓Arrays, strings, linked lists, stacks and queues
✓Searching and sorting, then the faster versions
✓SQL databases queried from Python
✓Visualisation with Matplotlib and Seaborn
✓The statistics and probability behind the models
✓Java, for students heading towards AP CS A
Grades 11-12 - Ages 16-18

College-level, on a transcript

The last stretch is built for applications. Students take AP Computer Science A unit by unit, work through trees, heaps, graphs and dynamic programming, train models in Keras and TensorFlow, and ship one capstone worth writing about.

Java / AP CS A Graphs & Dynamic Programming Deep Learning Full-stack

What your child will learn

✓AP Computer Science A, unit by unit
✓Trees, heaps and hashing
✓Graphs and shortest-path algorithms
✓Dynamic programming, done properly
✓Machine learning models trained end to end
✓Deep learning with Keras and TensorFlow
✓A full-stack site with a real database behind it
✓A capstone worth putting on an application

Projects your child builds at our school

Six projects, one per stage of the pathway. Your child picks the one matched to their grade and finishes it inside the trial class - with the teacher beside them, not a video.

Image Recognizer
Image Recognizer
Build a Thunkable app that takes a photo, works out what is in it, and then reads the answer out loud. Real AI, and not a word of typing needed.
Transify
Transify
A translator that turns typed text into another language and speaks it back. Children usually test it on a language nobody in the room can read.
Superhero Soundboard
Superhero Soundboard
Lay out a soundboard in HTML and CSS, wire each button to its own sound effect, then let the whole family press them. First taste of the web stack.
AI Art Buddy
AI Art Buddy
Describe a picture in words and let Python call an image-generation model to draw it. Students write the request, read the response, and watch their sentence become an image.
Password Generator
Password Generator
A Python program that asks how long a password should be and assembles a genuinely random one. Short enough for one lesson, useful enough that kids keep using it.
Analyzing Average Rainfall
Analyzing Average Rainfall
Load a year of rainfall figures with pandas, chart them with Matplotlib, and work out which months actually break the average. The first project that looks like professional work.

Why an online coding school for kids makes the difference

Thinking that transfers
Thinking that transfers
Breaking a problem into steps, testing a guess and being wrong without giving up - these are coding habits that show up in maths and science work first.
Ready for what comes next
Ready for what comes next
Coding and AI now sit underneath most technical work. Children who build with these tools early treat them as something to direct, not something to fear.
Technology stops being magic
Technology stops being magic
Once a child has trained an image classifier or shipped a working app, the software they use every day becomes something they can question and rebuild.

One school for elementary, middle and high school learners

Students attending coding class

Most children switch coding platform three or four times between Grade 1 and Grade 12, and the handover is where progress usually stalls. Here it is planned for. The Grade 3 child finishing Sprite Lab already recognises what Scratch will ask of them, and the Grade 5 child typing their first Python has spent two years reading block logic that maps straight onto it.

Joining late is the normal case, not the exception. A Grade 9 student with no coding behind them starts with website development & advanced Python, not blocks - the trial lesson sets the entry point. Either way the certificate at the end is STEM.org accredited.

Coding school FAQs

What is an online coding school for kids?+

An online coding school for kids is a structured, live program where children learn to code from Grade 1 through Grade 12 along one connected pathway. Instead of scattered tutorials, your child progresses stage by stage - from block coding to Python, web development and AI - with a dedicated Computer Science teacher.

What is the best age to start?+

Children can begin as early as age 6 with visual, block-based coding. As they grow, they move on to Python, JavaScript and areas like AI, web development and app development. There is a right starting stage for every age from 6 to 18.

Is it suitable for complete beginners?+

Yes. Most students join with no prior experience. Younger grades start entirely with drag-and-drop blocks - no typing or advanced reading needed - and the free trial helps us place your child at exactly the right level.

How does the curriculum progress by grade?+

Grades 1-3 build foundations with Scratch and Code.org. Grades 4-5 bridge into Python and web basics. Grades 6-8 write real code in Python, JavaScript and HTML/CSS. Grades 9-10 add data science, AI and Java. Grades 11-12 prepare for AP Computer Science and develop advanced coding skills.

What skills will my child actually develop?+

Beyond programming languages, children build logical thinking, creativity, problem-solving and computational thinking. They learn to plan, build, debug and present their own projects - skills that carry into every school subject.

Are classes live or recorded?+

Every class is live and teacher-led - never a recording. Your child codes during the lesson, asks questions and gets real-time guidance, in a 1-on-1 or small-group format.

What will my child build?+

A real project in every class. Younger kids create animations, stories and games in Scratch; older students build websites, Python programs, mobile apps and AI-powered projects they can add to a portfolio.

What device does my child need?+

A laptop or desktop with a stable internet connection, a webcam and a microphone. All the coding platforms we use are free and web-based, so there is nothing to install.

Can we try before enrolling?+

Yes. Book a free 30-minute trial lesson. Your child works 1-on-1 with a teacher, completes a real project, and you receive a personalised recommendation. No payment or card is required.

How do parents track progress?+

Parents receive monthly progress updates and can follow their child through completed projects, learning milestones, quizzes and teacher feedback. You are also welcome to sit in on classes.
